European Train Travel

Are you considering exploring Europe by train? People of all ages, cultures, and from all walks of life prefer train travel as their method of choice for traveling around Europe, and for excellent reasons. The many benefits of choosing train travel for traversing this lovely continent include convenience and cost-effectiveness.

While there are many benefits, it is very important that you educate yourself about the train system in Europe. Just like anywhere else, if you do not familiarize yourself with the train system, it can be a confusing way to travel. Here are some tips for making the train system in Europe work for you.

The first tip is to always pick a train station that has an information desk not just a ticket counter. This is beneficial because an information desk can offer help planning your travel, inform you or any special discounts/deals, and help you pick the cheapest train route. A ticket counter is just there to sale you ticket and does not offer the same aide.

After viewing all your options, if you are still trying to cut costs, there are still many different ways to achieve that cheaper rate. For example, traveling by train in southern Europe is cheaper than the trains in northern Europe. Also, slower trains are much cheaper then express trains. If you travel overnight, you will save on money by not having to make any hotel accommodations. Lastly, purchasing a rail pass may help you save money, especially if you plan of doing a lot of travel.

In the instance that you do decide to purchase your ticket or pass at the ticket window, be sure of your departure time or train number, whether you will be traveling first- or second-class, whether your trip is one-way or a round-trip, and when you will be traveling. Remember, express trains generally require reservations far in advance, and are usually significantly more expensive.

Italy stands for cultural diversity, rich heritage, beautiful natural places and most important of all the beauty of Italy as a country. Visiting Italy can be real fun.
